Fall Continuing Education Schedule

Robert Muse will be presenting a class to educate PBAI members on arrest
procedures and state statues pertaining to fugitive recovery. It should be
emphasized that bail enforcement is not as depicted on television and movie
productions. The bail agent participating in the enforcement of the bail contract
should have a knowledge of bail law, a firm commitment to ethics as well as
demonstrate a strong professional attitude towards clients.

Striving for Success (1 Ethic 1 General Credit) .
Business ethics is the study and evaluation of decision making by businesses
according to moral concepts and judgments. Ethical questions range from
practical, narrowly defined issues, such as a company's obligation to be honest with
its customers, to broader social and philosophical questions, such as a company's
responsibility to protect the community. Many ethical conflicts develop from
conflicts between the differing interests of company owners, their Agents,
customers, courts and the communities in which they serve. Agents must balance
the ideal against the practical—the need to produce a reasonable profit for the
company and themselves with honesty in business practices, safety for everyone
evolved, and the larger moral and social issues.

Judge Epis will join us to update PBAI members on progress being made in the
Bail Bonds Guidelines Committee. We will be reviewing any changes which have
been or may be made to the statutes and Supreme Court rules pertaining to bail in
criminal cases, as well as changes being made to the bail guidelines adopted by
some of the judicial districts. We will be discussing any recent amendments,
deletions or additions to those provisions which will be affecting procedures
relating to surety bail bonds in the state of Idaho.
Note from CJ
This year has been a roller coaster with CE. Getting approval on classes is much harder now than before, due to the Sircon system. The DOI has added a new committee with members that ensure that all outlines and course information meet all standards for Continuing Education. Most of those committee members do not understand that Surety Bail is totally different from their definitions of traditional insurance lines. If anyone is interested in serving on the DOI committee please contact me, We need a voice and someone to represent us when decisions are being made for our classes. It is very important to have classes that reflect bail and not just generic courses designed for the “traditional” insurance industry.
